So many of us have not returned to a traditional office since we were all sent home in 2020. Businesses have rethought how things can (and perhaps should) get done, allowing much of the workforce to set up shop in their basements, bedrooms, and spare spaces at home. Initially, employers thought this would reduce productivity, leaving people the freedom to “slack off” since no one was watching. In reality, remote workers are amonf those who put in more hours than any traditional 8-hour frame.

Several studies over the past few months show productivity while working remotely from home is better than working in an office setting. On average, those who work from home spend 10 minutes less a day being unproductive, work one more day a week, and are 47% more productive (Appollo Technical).

Sure, we still chat over Slack and Teams, and schedule “virtual coffee breaks,” but ten minutes is quite a gain in the span of a day. And that extra day? No, it isn’t typically a full Saturday or Sunday. It’s eight or more hours added on throughout the week, by lunching at our desks, signing on to our laptops at 7AM…
