I'm with you. I love being the woman that I am. It's fantastic. What the unfortunate truth is, though, is that we are not given the same privilege that our male peers are when we apologize for leaving ten minutes early to get to our kids' soccer games or being 5 minutes late to a meeting because the previous one ran long.
Our male peers are indeed seen as more serious, driven, and focused.
And you know how that translates? They are promoted and paid more. So while I love being feminine, I very much dislike being paid 73 cents to their dollar.
I figure if I can help figure out how to level that field, I will. Even if it means not emailing like a dude.
But you are absolutely right - we shouldn't "have" to. Let's change that.
