Hi Alex,

Sorry you feel that this essay is anything akin to an "indignant female frenzy," or "endearing myself" to anyone.

Oddly enough, my best friend is an Army JAG victim advocate, so I am very familiar with how the armed forces handles sexual assault. But, I'm also familiar with the small percentage of false reports of sexual assault and the rapidity with which that kills the accused's reputation.

I have great respect for those with courage enough to report true assault and I understand the misogynistic systems in place that lead them to favor staying quiet.

My aim would be to see to it that real victims are treated with such respect that they are unafraid and investigations are so thorough and cautious that all parties know they are treated fairly. That is the only way that justice will be done and the guilty will see proper sentencing.
