Hi Marcia. Pennsylvania, where this took place, is both a no-fault divorce state and a community property state. So each party pays his or her own costs in a divorce. In fact, the greater-earning spouse (which was not me) only pays alimony until the divorce is final, not until he or she remarries.
I suppose it’s actually more equitable that way, but it did leave me with some hefty bills in the end.
