I understand and appreciate your response. And certainly, if he were “staying late at work to feed the family” that is what I would have felt comfortable saying. That, however, was not the case, I assure you.
I received an award at my university, and he did not come to the ceremony, but had no other plans that evening. I ran my first half marathon, and he slept in rather than come to see me cross the finish line.
So, while I still do not excuse my choice, I do not excuse his choices either.
