It’s important, too, to examine why a cheater feels compelled to stray in that sometimes, despite efforts and love for their partner, it is the partner who has grown cold, distant, refused intimacy or friendship and yet not (perhaps yet) cheated.

While not an excuse, it’s not always selfish initiative but sometimes reactionary.
