And Other Feminine Ways to Rule the World

The ways women are perceived in the workplace are still changing. For the most part, the perception is improving as more and more women not only succeed, but lead, in environments spanning every conceivable workspace.

Some of the changes have been mandated, like banning interview questions about potential maternity and family obligations, but many changes have been social, shifting only because women have met every challenge out of capability, not necessity.

There remains unconscious bias, of course, and even outright misogyny, and so women who want to find their way to the top have learned to strategize their way to success.

By paying attention, and by asking some questions along the way, I’ve ferreted out some ways that women have gotten higher on the success path.

1. Owning their “USP” — a Universal Selling Point

Understanding what your universal selling point is, and using it to represent their strengths and talents is vital to excelling as a female leader. Women who are not shy about indicating their strengths tend to stand out. This comes as no surprise.
