And Other Things We’ll Tell You If You Are Brown

Among the legislative proposals in Project 2025 is a “Mandatory appropriation for border wall system infrastructure.” There is a “Border Security Improvement Plan” that also outlines creating an authority to “expel illegal aliens across the border immediately when certain non-health conditions are met, such as loss of operational control of the border” (p147). Language like this is sufficiently vouge so as to leave laypersons like me wondering just what operational control entails. Don’t we already have claims that the United States lacks control of the massive land length of the border? Don’t we also lack total control of our northern border?
Hint: we do.
There is also language that urgest the repeal of Section 235 of the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act. What this Act does is provide additional protections to unaccompanied minors who enter the United States. It makes some reasonable sense to discourage parents from sending their children across the border, because in truth they are frequently trafficked, harmed, or even killed.
