Yes, Another Article About It…Sorry Not Sorry

Writers who are just now, just this minute, coming to Medium are in one of two categories (opinion my own, just like everything else I write here): one, they are young, maybe fresh out of college or something, and someone told them, “hey, Medium is a good place to work out the kinks,” or two, they are unseasoned and not very good at their craft, but they heard people can get paid here and they figured, “why not — it seems like an easy way to make money, so I’ll go for it.”

To the first group, welcome, find a mentor, work on your drafts, but I hope you are a good writer with above par editing skills, because if you suck, you should be drafting a blog on a Wix space or Wordpress and asking for feedback. There are enough crappy writers trying to make some clams here already. Please work through your anxiety as a copywriter, technical writer, editorial assistant or whatnot and publish some fan fiction on your blog

To the second group, please stop. I use the word ‘unseasoned’ for a reason. Good writing craft takes seasoning, and by that I mean feedback and editorial review, practice at grammar and syntax, work with word choice.
