Presidents surround themselves with staff. They have to. The job is too big for one person, and too big for many people, really. Just like being the CEO of a company that does lots of things instead of a company that just makes paper clips, being the president means relying on people with expertise in a lot of different areas. That is, individuals with individual expertise in individual areas. The key there is relying on. Trusting. Depending.
In fact, often the president chooses a Chief of Staff and that chief does a great deal of the interviewing and vetting of the people that the president should rely on. There is simply too much for the top dog to do. Time is better spent listening and learning.
