Most of us consistently seek what we’ve already got. We are just supremely unaware that we have it.

That thing? Contentment.

Indeed. It is here, right inside. We just have to be quiet. Still. Perhaps even motionless, just for a bit, and we’ll get it.

But so often, the noise of the day, the bustle and the din of all that’s around us, it just drowns it all out. It is so difficult to find our path to silence, it’s a wonder we get any of it, ever.

But when we do, it’s magical.

If you really want to find a strong place — go get some silence.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, not only should you seek silence, but you should try a little bit of time depriving all of your senses, in fact. Removing the clutter of daily sensory stimuli can leave you refreshed and recharged in myriad ways. “The intent is to give you a break and let you reset,” according to Irina Todorov, M.D.

Many of us fear the notion of silence because it feels small, and renders us small as well. And yet, the sensation of silence and even weightlessness can alleviate the tensions brought about by noise, stress, and too much stimuli.
