I know, I know. It’s not that simple.
Except…it is. That’s really the only solution. You have a horrible boss, and your boss is not going to stop being horrible. You know this to be the case. You thought he wouldn’t be, but he his. Plain and simple. There’s only one way out.
“But I can’t…I like my job.”
Do you? Is it worth the aggravation you face, working for the guy who leaves you feeling like you aren’t actually good at what you do, when you know that you are good at what you do? And how will that work out for you, in the end? Gather your things and dust off your resume, even if it has only been a short time. Get moving on either a lateral move within your company, or a move out of your company, because this will not end well. You know it won’t.
“But the people here will recognize my worth, and surely they’ll protect me.”
False. While others will certainly recognize that your efforts are good, that your talents are great, they will also recognize his, and when it comes time to choose up teams, you have absolutely no way of knowing who’s on whose team. Everyone in the workplace looks out for number one. And you can’t blame anyone for that behavior…
