The Unconstitutionality of Denying Care
Thankfully, some judges work on Sundays.
On February 16, Judge Lauren King of Washington State delivered a mighty blow to the Trans-focused Trump administration, just one day after a federal judge in Baltimore had temporarily blocked the executive order stripping funds for transgender care.
Back on January 28, a mere week into his presidency, Trump took the cruel step of signing an executive order blocking “the use of sex hormones, such as androgen blockers, estrogen, progesterone, or testosterone, to align an individual’s physical appearance with an identity that differs from his or her sex.” He’s been on a rampage against the trans population for quite some time, and this order blocked federal funding to doctors who provide gender-affirming treatment to minors (teens, as young children have no need for any of these until they reach puberty).
On Sunday, February 16 though, just a day before President’s Day, King found the executive order fully unconstitutional.
