The State Department Under Project 2025. Or, What a Fine Mess You’ve Gotten Us Into!

“Righting the Ship” — what an apt paragraph heading, and accurate use of the term “right” (p(174). This area of Project 2025 talks about how to align the State Department to an arcane ideology where America is a standalone actor in the world, reliant on no other country for its well-being.

One section heading notes that the plan is to “Reboot Ambassadors Worldwide.” Did you know that all ambassadors must resign at the start of a new Administration? I did not. This was new information to me. Now, the incoming administration plans to “go further” and commence reviewing these plans “well before the Administration’s first day” (p174). I have a little bit more to say about the day one agenda in another post titled “A Day One Agenda.” There is a link to it at the end of this piece. It intends to review all unratified treaties and contracts, all hiring decisions, to ensure that the “posture of the department is an unwavering desire to prioritize the American people” (p174). Well now. Guess no diplomacy for these guys.

The next conservative administration is set to reconsider how all international negotiations are conducted, focusing all of them on American conservative values rather than international peace or compromise among sovereign nations. There is to be an…
