Fun Fact: I was looking for a photo to accompany this essay. I searched “sexy.” I got dozens of dewy-lipped twentysomething women. Ugh. I searched “sexy middle-age.” I got: guys.
What the fresh hell?

Antonia Hall, author of The Ultimate Guide to a Multi-Orgasmic Life is here to remind us that among the many joys of getting older is that we are no longer quite so hung up on being dewy-lipped, having the ultimate body for photoshopping. At least not most of us. Not only that, there is a whole huge sexual freedom that comes with middle age that most of us didn’t (couldn’t?) experience until now.
Women who have entered their 40’s and beyond — dare I say 50’s — have a renewed sense of passion owing to one major life change. Yes, menopause, but also no, menopause. See, the great thing about turning one of life’s big corners is that we don’t have to worry about the elephant in the room. There’ll be no more babies, thank you. Do you KNOW how liberating that is?
Also, we no longer have the time or inclination for bad sex. Or mediocre sex. So we pretty much spell it out. Without the stress of periods, we get to be more spontaneous. Not to mention, our kids are grown and likely out of the house, so…
